The reason for Rumi's words in the quote featured on this meme is because we must adopt the meditative, being Mind while dropping the thinking mind.
It is the 'thinking' mind which gives us all a personal sense of self with personal beliefs, ideas and concepts created from personifying from Mind/body.
Dropping the personal Mind Aka Thinking Mind, means dropping all beliefs, ideas and concepts about ourselves and understanding of the Truth.
This is so that the actually truth - the actually true Self as Spirit, can form itself within us as the Mind/body, rewiring the brain Aka 'Making all the crooked places straight', which leads us to 'Still Waters' which is identification as the Loving Peace that is Soul, rather than identifying our existence with the Temporary Temple of a Mind/body cut off from its Source.
This is what the wine parable about the bible is all about.
And no man puts new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles and be spilled and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine straightway desires new: for he saith, The old is better. -— Luke 5:36–39
Here the bible is telling us we must cast off the thinking mind, for the being mind in preparation for the coming of the Lord Aka the true Self. Tempering and purifying the Subconscious Aka Human Soul, through Shadow work, mindfulness and meditation.
Again, this is why the bible say to 'Be still and know that I am' - Psalms 46:10. Here we are told to be mentally still and live by Faith which is knowing.
The way to realization and liberation from egoism then is meditation. I personally subscribe to Sri Ramana's Maharshi's methods below, which I was doing long before I even know of Maharshi. They are 'Surrender' (My own personal path) and likened to it 'Self Enquiry' . I have provided links for both pathways below.
