I remember years n years ago when I was 17-18 approx, starting a Tai Chi class and saying to the instructor "So how long do I have to practice this art before I get Inner peace, because seriously I need this inner peace shite, like yesterday!?" He looked at me like I had grown 3 heads. So I looked back at him with a puzzelled 'Wtf is your problem dood'!
It took me years to understand why he did that. To me it was a perfectly reasonable question. In my opinion he was being deliberately obtuse & obnoxious which I deemed a poor look for a Tai Chi instructor I was at that age where I knew everything....
In time I realized Inner peace is not a goal or a destination. It's a state of being that has nothing to do with an outcome, reward or certain set of circumstances.
The principle I am trying to portray reminds me of a quote I read somewhere. I can't remember how it went but I remember the principle.....
I want Inner Peace....
If you want Inner peace, then first let go of the "I", then let go of the 'wanting" - what you are left with is Inner Peace.
Inner peace is not something you practice doing, or become. It is something you are when you take away all that you are not.
Pretty sure it was Buddha or Lao Tzu that said the quote similiar to this....shrugs
